Birthday wishes

Hello Lovelies!

As promised I am back today (Monday) for a new post!
So firstly I wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone for their lovely birthday wishes... I still can't believe I'm already 19!

So this weekend has been very interesting. So much has happened, good and bad and I was so overwhelmed by it all. By Sunday evening, one thing had me extremely intrigued.

So as I scrolled down my wall on Facebook, I saw tens of sweet birthday wishes from people I have barely ever even spoken to. I know a lot of people who would say that "It's a day where people you don't speak to, wish you a happy birthday as if you were ever friends", so in a way they take it negatively but I, on the other hand, thought that it was a nice gesture.

Just think about it, even though you don't speak to some people, they still go out of their way to wish you a happy birthday and even though it may not be much, it really is very thoughtful of them to do so.

This now brings my point. People I have never spoken to on Facebook can take 2 minutes just to write a sweet message yet some of the people I spent all of high school calling my friends didn't.

Now try to see where I am coming from, no I do not expect everyone to do that, heck, I don't even need them to do so but to me, it sounded very unusual.

Anyway yeah so this was an observation I made this weekend. I'm not too sure how I feel about it but that I ain't even mad. I still had the best weekend with my family eating cake and so much chocolate!

I hope you're all having a wonderful Monday wherever you are!
Stay beautiful and be kind to everyone!

Lots of love, Karine xx

  1. I didn't realise it was your birthday - so HAPPY BIRTHDAY for when it was! :)
I totally agree with what you said. I think it's really lovely when people I hardly know message me to wish me happy birthday, especially when some of my "friends" don't even bother - even though they have been online!
Glad you had a great weekend! :) xx

  4. This is true… I love that you just share your random thoughts! Makes for a really interesting read. I'm always so bothered about what I think others will want to read about so I try and train my writing in some way, but then I see posts like this and think that I should be writing whatever the heck I want. Hope you had a lovely day anyway. Rosemary x

  5. I know what you mean. I have thought that in the past, but I find that my closest friends don't use facebook anymore as it's become very generic. (also I deactivated mine years ago, but I mean before that.) We usually send a text, call, or email, depending.
I think it's because if you KNOW it's someone's birthday, and spend literally a minute giving a little wish, then why not? Like you said, it's a nice gesture. That's what i think anywhoo c:
You know, I don't even remember your birthday post =/ Happy belated Birthday!

    Star.

  9. that's happened to me too. don't feel bad. more people are on twitter and instagram now. i have a facebook page and i'm constantly missing birthdays because i don't check in. your friends may have an account on fb, but not use it. if they are on it, then they should've wished you a happy bday. as you grow older you'll find out who truly are your friends and who are not.

  10. Sometimes the people who've been there the most for me are my online 'friends'. I think there's a special intimacy which occurs when you speak to someone online a lot - they come into your house every day through your computer, which can be a great deal of support. x x

  11. Yes that is very true! They were online... omg i sound like a lil creep haha nah but I'm taking this in a positive way. As I grow up, I am slowly finding out who my real friends are and I'm so thankful to have them be part of my life! Thank you for this Kim! :) x
